Remove the plastic from the brie wheel and score the brie (see notes below). Place scored brie in a small oven safe dish (make sure it fits in your air fryer).
Top with apricot preserves, maple syrup (if using), fresh thyme, and red pepper flakes.
Place the brie in the air fryer basket and air fry for 7-9 minutes.
Serve with crackers.
Notes
To score the brie, use a sharp knife to make parallel 1/4 inch slits across the top of the brie. Repeat the slits in the opposite direction, forming a criss cross pattern.
The cook time in this recipe works for a 7-ounce round brie wheel, and also, this time works best if your brie cheese is cold. If your brie is at room temperature, cook for 5-7 minutes.
Once brie cheese has been melted, it's best to consume it immediately. Melted cheese can become a breeding ground for bacteria, and it's not recommended to keep it in the refrigerator for an extended period.
Brie cheese will be soft and gooey after baking it on the air fryer, but it will harden after a while. You can reheat the cheese in the air fryer at 350 F on a piece of parchment paper. Keep a close eye on it so it doesn't run off the parchment paper since it won't have the rind to hold it all together! You can also reheat brie in the microwave in 15 second intervals.
