Birria ramen made easy with Trader Joe’s beef birria, ramen noodles, and soft-boiled eggs. This quick recipe delivers a rich, flavorful broth with minimal prep for a cozy, restaurant-style meal at home.
Add the Trader Joe’s birria and chicken broth to a medium sized saucepan over medium-low heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Once the mixture comes to a simmer, mix in the lime juice just before removing from heat.
1 package Trader Joe’s Beef Birria, 1 cup chicken broth, 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
Meanwhile, bring a medium saucepan of water to a rolling boil. Carefully lower the eggs into the boiling water and start a timer for 6½ minutes for soft-boiled eggs with jammy centers.
2 large eggs
After the eggs have cooked for 3 minutes, add the ramen noodles to the same pot and gently separate them with tongs or chopsticks. Continue cooking until the timer reaches 6½ minutes total and the noodles are tender.
2 packs ramen noodles
Use a slotted spoon to remove the eggs and transfer them to an ice bath stop the cooking. Drain the noodles well and divide them between two serving bowls.
Pour the birria mixture over the ramen noodles and garnish with cilantro, lime wedges, and diced white onion.
Fresh cilantro, Lime wedges, White onion
Notes
Chicken broth keeps the birria broth rich but balanced; beef broth works too, but will make it a little heavier.
To loosen the frozen birria from the package, let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes or microwave for about 1 minute.
A fried egg on top is a great swap if you don’t want to soft-boil the eggs.
For a cheesy finish, add a handful of shredded Gruyère and let it melt into the hot broth.
