Air Fryer Brie is one of my all-time favorite appetizers. I am a huge cheese lover, and I have a weakness for gooey cheese, which makes this the best recipe ever

Next time you invite your friends and family over for a game night, a holiday season party, or a get-together, make this recipe. It’s a great appetizer, serve it with sourdough bread, crackers, and plenty of fresh fruit.

And if you can’t get enough of appetizers like this one, my Baked Brie with Fig Jam or this Cranberry Baked Brie are other great options!

Ingredients You’ll Need

Labeled ingredients for air fryer baked brie.
  • Brie wheel – Choose a small to medium wheel of brie (about 8 ounces). Don’t remove the white rind — it keeps the cheese from spilling out as it melts and gives the brie its signature flavor. Once heated, the inside turns gooey and buttery while the rind holds everything in place.
  • Apricot preserves – The sweet, fruity jam balances the rich, creamy cheese. Apricot is classic, but peach, fig, or raspberry preserves work just as well if that’s what you have on hand.
  • Maple syrup – A drizzle adds caramel-like sweetness that pairs beautifully with the brie. If you don’t have maple syrup, honey is a great substitute (just note it won’t have that distinct maple flavor).

Substitutions/Additions

  • I love to wrap my brie with a sheet of puff pastry before tossing it into the air fryer. Air frying your buttery puff pastry with the brie makes the pastry fluffy and flaky; it’s one of my favorite ways to make it! I like to brush the top of the puff pastry with a light coat of egg wash and a sprinkle of flaky salt so that the pastry turns golden brown.

Common Mistakes To Avoid

  • Cutting off the rind: Keep it on — it holds the melty cheese together.
  • Skipping the jam or syrup: The sweetness balances the richness of the brie and this is what makes a baked brie special and full of flavor!
  • Overcooking: Brie only needs a few minutes in the air fryer; too long and it can burst.
  • Using too small an air fryer: Crowding prevents even airflow, which can cause uneven melting.

Recipe FAQs

How long does brie go in the air fryer?

Brie goes in the air fryer for about seven to nine minutes at 350 degrees F. The time may vary depending on the size of your brie wheel. Check on it around the seven minute mark to see if your brie is all melted and done or if it needs a few more minutes.

Do you take the skin off the brie before baking?

No, you will keep the rind on while you’re baking it. This helps the cheese hold its shape so it doesn’t melt and run all in your air fryer. The rind is also edible, so there is no need to remove it. If you’d rather remove it, you’re welcome to take it off after the brie is done cooking, but I don’t recommend doing this because it will make a pretty big mess.

Why is my Air Fryer Baked Brie rubbery?

You may have accidentally overcooked it. If you’re worried about over-baking, you can always take the top part of the rind off, which will help with the rubbery texture. If you’re cooking your brie with puff pastry, it will take a few minutes longer in the air fryer for the cheese to melt all the way through.

Can you put aluminum foil in an air fryer?

Absolutely. I love a good easy clean up! A great aluminum foil substitute is parchment paper, which is also air fryer safe. Parchment paper is a little harder to cut, but it doesn’t stick to food like aluminum foil sometimes does. Whether you’re using parchment paper or aluminum foil, make sure you poke holes so the air can flow through.

How to store this baked brie cheese?

I recommend wrapping the leftover brie cheese in parchment paper or plastic wrap and storing it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Store any other leftover ingredients separated from the cheese.

How many days does baked brie cheese last in the refrigerator?

If you have any leftover melted brie, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume it within 2-3 days.

Notes

  • To score the brie, use a sharp knife to make parallel 1/4 inch slits across the top of the brie. Repeat the slits in the opposite direction, forming a criss cross pattern.
  • The cook time in this recipe works for a 7-ounce round brie wheel, and also, this time works best if your brie cheese is cold. If your brie is at room temperature, cook for 5-7 minutes.
  • Once brie cheese has been melted, it’s best to consume it immediately. Melted cheese can become a breeding ground for bacteria, and it’s not recommended to keep it in the refrigerator for an extended period.
  • Brie cheese will be soft and gooey after baking it on the air fryer, but it will harden after a while. You can reheat the cheese in the air fryer at 350 F on a piece of parchment paper. Keep a close eye on it so it doesn’t run off the parchment paper since it won’t have the rind to hold it all together! You can also reheat brie in the microwave in 15 second intervals.
