Ready in just 20 minutes, these crispy and golden brown Air Fryer Fish Tacos are your new favorite weeknight meal! With a beer batter and bread crumb coating, this air fried halibut is my favorite for fish tacos.

Pair them with my incredible Fish Taco Sauce for a pop of extra flavor, and make them even heartier with some Fish Taco Slaw. But even on their own, these tacos are packed with crispy, flaky fish that’s seasoned to perfection!
Why you’ll love it

- Crispy, golden fish without deep frying: The air fryer gives you a perfect crust using way less oil.
- Quick and easy dinner win: From prep to plate in 20 minutes, these tacos are ideal for busy weeknights when you want something fresh and flavorful.
- Customizable and kid-friendly: Pair them with fish taco slaw, lime crema, or chunky salsa. These tacos work with whatever toppings your family loves most.
- Easy to clean: With everything cooking in the air fryer and just a couple of bowls for breading, you’ll spend more time enjoying tacos and less time scrubbing dishes.
Ingredients You’ll Need

- Halibut – This tender white fish is perfect to pick up all the flavors from the seasonings.
- Panko breadcrumbs – Form a crispy and light breading on the exterior of the fish filets.
- Seasonings – I start with a simple combo of salt and pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
- Light beer – Adding a little bit of beer to the breading gives your fish so much savory and comforting flavor.

Substitutions and Additions
- If you can’t find halibut, flounder or cod are great substitutes. Or give this recipe a try with air fryer salmon!
- Panko bread crumbs add the light and crispy finishing touch to this air fried fish, but you could use regular bread crumbs if you prefer.
- Try switching up the seasonings by pairing cumin, paprika, and turmeric for a warm and earthy flavor profile. Or lemon zest and cilantro for a fresh citrusy flavor.
- I like to serve my fish tacos on mini flour tortillas, but corn tortillas are also great!
Storing and Reheating
Storing: If you think you’ll have leftovers, keep everything in separate airtight containers in the fridge. The cooked fish, slaw, and fish taco sauce will all be good for 3 to 4 days. The tortillas can be kept at room temperature.
Reheating: Pop them back in the air fryer at 350 degrees F, or cook them over the stove in a skillet with a little spritz of oil until the fish is hot and crispy again.

- Pat the halibut pieces dry with a paper towel. Then dip each piece of halibut into the beer-egg mixture, letting any excess drip off. Dredge the fish in the dry coating, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs stick.8 oz halibut fillets
- Arrange the coated halibut in a single layer in the basket (cook in batches if needed). Spray the tops of the fish with olive oil spray to help the coating crisp. Air fry the halibut for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the coating is golden brown and the fish flakes easily with a fork.
- While the halibut is cooking, char the tortillas over an open flame on a gas burner or in a cast iron pan. Spread a small amount of fish taco sauce on each tortilla, then layer with shredded cabbage, a piece or two of crispy halibut, sliced avocado, and cilantro.avocado, fish taco sauce, cilantro, taco slaw

Notes
- If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheat setting, heat it for about 5 minutes before adding the fish.

Recipe FAQs
This usually happens if you overcrowd the fish in the air fryer. Other reasons your fish could be soggy is you didn’t properly pat the filets dry before breading, or you didn’t allow the excess egg to drip off.
Yes! As long as you fully cook the fish, it’s perfectly safe to air fry raw fish.
