Air Fryer Banana Bread
This easy-to-make Air Fryer Banana Bread only uses a handful of ingredients and is great for breakfast or a snack on the go. Plus, this mouth-watering banana bread will leave your house smelling amazing all day.

This easy banana bread recipe is so simple to make and is great to eat right off the counter at room temperature or toss in the microwave for a few seconds to warm up. Don’t forget to add a little butter!
I also enjoy turning banana bread into Banana Bread Muffins or adding a few berries to make Strawberry Banana Bread.
Why This Recipe Works

- Great way to use up bananas: Don’t waste your brown bananas – make moist banana bread that is packed full of flavor!
- Easy to customize: You can add nuts for extra protein or chocolate chips for a sweet treat.
- Convenient cooking: Thanks to the air fryer, this banana bread cooks up in no time and is always perfectly baked.
Ingredients You’ll Need

- Bananas – for this recipe, you will need very ripe, almost brown bananas. Don’t forget, you can freeze your overripe bananas too!
- Vanilla extract – I like to add vanilla to my banana bread recipe because it enhances and pairs perfectly with the overripe bananas.
- Butter – you will need to use melted butter for this recipe, so no need to worry about softening it!
- Granulated sugar – you can use any brand of white sugar that you’d like. I prefer regular sugar over brown sugar for this recipe because brown sugar makes it too dense.
- Egg – you’ll need a large egg to bind the ingredients and help the banana bread rise.
- All-purpose flour – this is one of the key ingredients to making the bread, feel free to use any brand of all-purpose flour that you’d like. I haven’t tried it with gluten-free flour yet, but I am sure you can use that as well.
- Baking powder – baking powder is the leavening agent in this recipe that will help your banana bread rise.
- Ground cinnamon – makes for the perfect, warm banana bread! You could also add a dash of allspice in place of ground cinnamon.
- Baking soda – baking soda is also a leavening agent which will help your banana bread rise and become moist and fluffy rather than being too dense.

Substitutions/Additions
While I love to eat just plain banana bread, I also love that I can toss a few extra ingredients in the mix and have a totally different flavor combination. You can even top your banana bread with a nut butter for a delicious sweet treat. Here are a few of my favorite variations:
- Walnut Banana Bread: This is a common variation of banana bread. There isn’t much that you need to change to the recipe other than adding chopped walnuts. Whether you want them super chopped or roughly chopped is up to you, and then toss them in the batter. Simple enough, right?
- You can also try adding pecans or chopped macadamia nuts instead!
- Strawberry Banana Bread: Adding mashed strawberries or chopped strawberries is a great twist to your banana bread, especially during the summer when strawberries are in season. If you plan on using mashed strawberries, keep in mind that they will turn your batter pink! Which would be perfect for a Valentine’s Day party or even to bring to a baby shower.
- If you are planning on chopping up your strawberries, I would make sure that they’re roughly chopped and then fold them in your banana bread batter. I don’t recommend using a hand or stand mixer for this.
- Chocolate Chip Banana Bread: Who wouldn’t want to add chocolate chips to their banana quick bread? Toss a handful of chocolate chips in your batter while you’re mixing, and a few extra for good measure. I recommend folding them in instead of using a mixer so that the chocolate chips don’t break up. Or, you could put some on top of your bread as a delicious topping.
- You can add any kind of chocolate chips that you like. I prefer semi-sweet because there’s plenty of sweetness from the ripe bananas and sugar.
How to Make Air Fryer Banana Bread

- Mash the bananas. Peel the bananas, place them in a medium or large mixing bowl, and mash bananas them with a fork until you get a smooth consistency without lumps.

- Make the batter. Add vanilla extract and melted butter to the bowl with the mashed bananas and whisk. Then whisk in the sugar and egg. Use a strainer to sift the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and baking soda. Then add salt and whisk until well combined.

- Air fry banana bread. Grease the loaf pan with butter or cooking oil and pour in the batter. Place the loaf pan in the air fryer basket and cook for 35 minutes, until the center is set and the top is golden brown.

- Serve. Remove the banana bread from the air fryer basket and place it on a cooling wire rack and let it cool for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving.
Recipe FAQs
Absolutely. You can definitely put your loaf pan in your air fryer when you’re making this recipe; just make sure that it’s oven safe because the air fryer is going to get up to 300 degrees. You can also use an aluminum disposable bread loaf pan for super easy cleanup.
Your flour ratio may be off. If you add too much flour and not enough wet ingredients like bananas or butter, your banana bread will always come out dry. Be sure that you are using the correct amount of flour and that you’re not scooping a whole cup of flour straight out of the bag. Be sure to spoon your flour into a measuring cup so that it is loose, don’t pack it down, or you will use way too much flour. A great way to avoid this is to use a food scale.
If your banana bread is dense and wet in the center of the bread, I would first check out how much flour you’re putting into your recipe. Make sure that you’re using the proper methods to measure out your flour. Be sure to watch out for over-mixing. This can cause your banana bread to become extra tough, wet, and rubbery instead of the fluffy, moist bread that we’re going for.
100% yes. I love to bake extra banana bread so that I will always have some in my freezer. You can freeze the loaf as a whole, or you can cut it into portions or slices, which will allow your banana bread to thaw out quicker when you want to eat it. Wait until your bread is completely cooled before putting it in a sealed freezer bag and into your freezer! You don’t want to add hot bread into your freezer, or everything around it will thaw out.

Notes
- Try adding walnuts, chocolate chips, or strawberries for a different variation!
- I know lots of people struggle with watery banana bread, but if you mash the bananas in a fine mesh strainer and let it drain over the sink it will get rid of a lot of extra moisture!
