What is a Crudité Platter?

With the word crudité meaning “raw things”, a crudité platter typically consists of an assortment of raw vegetables. It’s basically a fancy name for a veggie platter.

On this platter, the savory half is a crudité, while the sweet side consists of an assortment of fresh fruit, nuts, and dessert-like snacks.

Cedars Hommus

No snack platter is complete without Cedars Hommus. It’s one of my favorite hummus brands because it tastes just like homemade hummus.

They have over 30 flavors to choose from. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet or savory, there’s something for every occasion.

With this snack board, I wanted to ensure I was satisfying both sweet and savory cravings so I used Cedar’s Dark Chocolate Hommus and Cedar’s Garlic Hommus.

How to Arrange Your Board

There is no right or wrong way to design, layout, or arrange your snack platter or charcuterie board; if it feels right, go for it!

I try to artfully arrange big things where I want them first. So anything in a jar or bowl I place on the board first and use them as my “anchors.”

Once my big items are in place I then dive in and place my meats, cheeses, crackers, vegetables, and fruit (all the smaller items).

To fill empty space on the board I grab nuts, herbs, chocolate, or flowers. This adds to the color balance, makes the board beautiful, and also adds small surprise elements to the display.

Tools for Making the Best Snack Platter

Making a snack platter is easy to do, and chances are, you already have everything you need!

Serving board: whatever you have will work! Your board can be something fancy, casual, wood, or a regular cutting board. Whatever you have based on the size you are looking to make it will work.

Serving utensils: there is nothing cuter than a set of small cheese/charcuterie serving utensils. If you don’t have any, you can use regular forks, knives, and spoons.

Ramekins: Looking for a nice way to serve jams, pickles, artichokes, olives, and more? Small bowls or dishes like ramekins make for the perfect way to serve and display items you can’t layout directly on the board.

Making a Snack Platter ahead of time

One thing I love about snack platters is the ability to make them ahead of time and pull them out when guests arrive!

If you are looking to assemble your snack board in advance, I recommend putting it together the night before or earlier in the day, wrapping it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate it until needed.

If you decided to include cheese or cured meats, pull the board out roughly 30 minutes before serving to allow the ingredients to get to room temperature.

This platter turned out so beautiful. I bought the chocolate hummus, which I have never had before, and it was DEVINE. My guests were so impressed at our weekly wine night.
