Empanadas make a great appetizer, snack, game-day meal, or quick lunch/dinner. However, an empanada (although delicious on it’s own), needs a side kick.

Empanada Sauce Ingredients
Base ingredients: to make the base of your sauce, you are going to want to use greek yogurt and avocado. Make sure the avocados you have on hand are ready and not too hard.
Spices and herbs: we are going to need: garlic, cilantro, green onions, and salt.
Wet ingredients: every great sauce has a balance between wet and dry ingredients. To get this dip just right we are going to use some olive oil, lime juice, and water.

How to make Empanada Dipping Sauce
1. Blend all ingredients. Add all the ingredients in a food processor and pulse on high until combined.
2. Add water. For a thinner sauce, you can add a bit more water. I would recommend adding an additional teaspoon at a time until you get the texture desired.
3. Store. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
What are empanadas served with?
Although empanadas are a great on their own, they can also be served as a meal! Below are some of my favorite things to pair empanadas with:
I love to serve them with some ice cold Mint Mojitos too!
Can you bake empanadas instead of frying them?
Of course! You can also make them in the air fryer if you’re looking for more of a crunch without all the fat and calories of deep frying or pan frying them in oil.
Baking or air frying your empanadas are healthier alternatives (and just as delicious) that will still maintain the empanadas flaky texture.
If you opt for baking, you can also bake a larger quantity at once, perfect for parties or gatherings.
What oil do you fry empanadas in?
This is really just a matter of preference, however, I recommend vegetable oil if frying. Alternatively, you can use canola, corn oil, or olive oil.
